How to Sell Your Own Items on bid.ezDownsizing.com!
Thank you for your interest in sharing our new model with the potential seller. The way the process works is:
ezDownsizing.com is an online auction company focusing on in-home estate sale auctions and seller-managed sale events. Unlike eBay, Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, our site and services focus on events rather than individual item listings. Those interested in alternatives to yard sales, garage sales, moving sales, fund raisers, etc., can go to our site, login create a seller account, and create their own online auction event where multiple items are offered for a given time and sold to the highest bidder at the completion of the event (typically about 7 to 10 days). The seller also identifies a day and time window (i.e. Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.) for buyers to show up and retrieve the items they purchased online. Sellers have the option of mailing select items to distant buyers at the buyer’s expense. The benefits of our online auction event process over traditional sales include:
- Bidders may shop / buy from home and at their convenience
- Broadens the market rather than relying on only those in proximity
- Eliminates cancellations / limitations imposed by inclement weather
- Item prices are determined by competitive bidding (no haggling)
- Almost everything sells
- Less time is exhausted by sellers dealing with flaky and unreliable buyers (Craigslist / Marketplace)
- No need for sellers to pull items out, set them up and have to bring items back in that do not sell (garage sales / moving sales).
- Sellers are not required to manage multiple in-person shoppers at the same time.
- Eliminates loss due to damage / theft.
- Payment is taken online and items are paid for immediately upon the close of the online auction event.
ezDownsizing.com charges sellers $75.00 per event, plus 4% for credit card processing / merchant account fees. The purpose for the $75.00 fee is to cover the labor and advertising costs specific to your event. The fee also eliminates sellers with marginal quality / value, who may not benefit from our event-based online auction services. Specific advertising includes:
- Unique ad on Estatesales.net
- Unique ad on Actionzip.com
- Unique ad on Craigslist
- Email notification of your event to our email distribution list of approximately 3500 customers.
- Unique text message notification to approximately 3500 customers alerting them your event is about to close.
ezDownsizing.com charges buyers a 15% buyer’s premium which we retain. The buyer’s premium is a fee charged to the purchaser on top of their bid price for their online auction purchases (i.e. if an item is sold for $100.00, the buyer is charged $115.00, of which the seller receives $100.00, and ezDownsizing.com receives $15.00).
Buyers who are not tax exempt are charged sales tax, which is collected by ezDownsizing.com and filed with the state of Virginia.
Seller receives payment from ezDownsizing.com within 14 business days of the close of their event for their total sales less the 4% credit card processing fees. (Total sales do not include buyer’s premium. Buyer only pays 4% processing on proceeds they receive).
